Dogwood over Merced River.
Dogwood over Merced River.
I took this picture in Yosemite Valley. It was in the end of April 2012 and the dogwood was in full blossom. The branch with Dogwood was a long way out of the river so I needed to put on a 2times Extender to my 70-200mm zoom. I wanted the flowers to stand out in the scene.
I did this by having a relatively slow shutter speed that made the rushing water soft. I also used an aperture that was sufficient for the flowers to become sharp but the water in the background slightly more blurry. Afterwards, I decided to remove all the colors but green to enhance the effect.
I used:
Canon 5D Mk II
Canon 70-200mm
Canon 2x extender
0.5 sec at f/11 and a tripod.
In Lightroom, I used the "HSL" and took away all the color saturation of all colors but green. Yosemite National Park, California, USA
